Cellular Pathology Scientist 1 - Harrogate

we are currently recruiting for a Cellular Pathology Scientist 1 at our site in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. As a Cellular Pathology Scientist within our modern purpose-built Histology department, you will play a key role in the selection and subsequent processing of specified pre-clinical tissues. Utilising your scientific expertise and technical laboratory skills, you will provide the essential link between sample collection and pathological evaluation.

Following a comprehensive training and career development scheme, the responsibilities of this varied role will include:

The use of your anatomy skills to identify and trim tissue samples from a range of animal species.
Processing and blocking of tissues using the latest automated tissue processing technology.
Microtomy of embedded tissues using the latest motorised microtomes.
Staining of tissue sections using a combination of methods and processes.
Microscopic quality control stained sections to ensure stringent standards are met.
The precise labelling of samples and accurate recording of all relevant study data.
The adherence to internationally recognised Good Laboratory Practice regulations.
An increasing involvement in many of the specialised cellular pathology services which the department currently provides.

About You:

You will ideally be educated to BSc or equivalent level qualification in Biomedical or Biological Sciences – however, due to our range of entry level opportunities, we also welcome applications from non-graduates.
You will have a target-orientated outlook, suited to working within a fast-paced, production-intensive environment.
You should have high attention to detail and a proactive attitude, together with the innovative mindset required to contribute towards the optimisation of Covance’s existing services
You need to have a flexible approach to the acquisition and utilisation of new skills and experiences
Flexibility to work weekends & evenings is a must.
