GMP Equipment & Metrology Technician – 12 Month Contract (Biotechnology & CMC-PDS)
Recent major investments have been made in facilities on the Harrogate site and we are recruiting for a GMP Equipment & Metrology Technician to be part of our exciting and expanding future, working with progressive management, inventive technologies and alongside other talented scientists.
As an office based GMP Equipment & Metrology Technician, you will be responsible for:
The maintenance and upkeep of a wide range of laboratory equipment within Biotechnology and CMC-PDS.
• Perform routine servicing and calibration of a wide range of equipment.
• To ensure all equipment is calibrated and serviced in accordance with the metrology schedule.
• To ensure timely reporting of faulty equipment.
• To arrange for the repair of faulty equipment.
• To co-ordinate visits by service engineers, ensuring appropriate health and safety procedures are adhered to.
• To maintain records of all equipment as per SOP, P&P etc., including metrology schedules, calibration records and service/repair details.
• To maintain the centralised schedule of all calibration, servicing and routine maintenance.
The individual has a responsibility to conduct all work in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, and specifically those regulations (GxP) specified in the study plans, protocols, or work agreements governing the work in which they are involved. They are also responsible for the efficient completion of equipment and metrology procedures within the Biotechnology and CMC-PDS Division.
The position is for a 12 month contract and will report directly to the GMP Equipment & Metrology Manager
About You
You are ideally educated to degree level or equivalent in life science and should possess practical experience of a relevant science or engineering subject. A degree of manual dexterity is desirable and a background of working to written procedures would be preferable.
A sound working knowledge of ‘Good Laboratory Practice’ and ‘Good Manufacturing Practice’ would be advantageous.
You will possess a high level of computer software awareness including knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
Due to the varied nature of the work involved, you must be able to demonstrate a flexible approach to work, possess excellent communication and time management skills and be able to maintain a high standard of record keeping.

The Biotechnology Division, situated in Harrogate, North Yorkshire was established 20 years ago and is a fully GMP/GLP/GCP compliant facility providing a comprehensive portfolio of services including GMP cell bank production and storage, cell bank and viral vector safety testing, viral clearance services, cell based bioassays, biodistribution studies, analysis of biofluids using immunochemistry based techniques and extensive protein chemistry support including cGMP batch release and stability testing.

The post holder should have GCSE or equivalent passes in English language, Mathematics and a science subject.
•Post holder should be familiar with Windows applications including Word and Excel.
•The post holder should possess a good telephone manner, and be able to communicate effectively at all levels with other Covance employees, as well as external clients, suppliers, etc.
•A degree of manual dexterity is desirable, a background of working to written procedures would be required
•Good interpersonal skills for liaison with all staff.
•General computer awareness and knowledge of Word and Excel.
•Good verbal and written communication skills.
