About the Job

This position will project manage a number of small to medium IT projects across four key business units – Safety Assessment, Chemistry, Nutritional Chemistry and Discovery and Translational Services. These projects are likely to include application development, commercial application deployment and/or infrastructure and application migration, retirement and up-grades. To be considered for this position you must have experience in an application focused role, ideally collaborating with off-shore development within a global company. An awareness of infrastructure would be useful but not essential.

Responsibilities for this position will include:

Work with the department management to evaluate, cost, plan and schedule development and implementation activities that provide improvements to business operations
Oversee the requirements gathering, analysis and design, development or acquisition, testing and implementation activities of end user, Information Technology employees and vendors
Lead the creation of analysis and design documents using the methodology chosen by the department (e.g. Rational Unified Process)
Lead team(s) of staff including business analysts, developers, database administrator’s hardware and software technicians, testers and change control technicians throughout the entire lifecycle of development and/or acquisition of modular software products
Work with users to define documents and validate functional requirements and work with development resources to translate these requirements into technical specifications
Evaluate, select and purchase as appropriate, components needed to deliver products and services
Create highly functional systems of the highest quality
Architecture. Oversee the development of systems in conformance with IT architecture
Work with other IT departments and vendors as appropriate to plan and implement product and service rollouts. Oversee the maintenance of installation routines used for system delivery
Conduct post implementation reviews

About You

A Bachelors Degree (or equivalent experience) is required, with experience in a project leadership position. An MBA would be highly desirable but not essential

Technical and Business expertise pertaining to the products and services in the responsibility area including but not limited to:
Current technology including operating systems (client and network), networks,
development tools, installation tools, testing tools, version control tools, performance
measurement and analysis tools, databases, etc.
Understanding customer processes and requirements and the ability to translate into
system specifications in the context of pharmaceutical development. Knowledge of GLP and basic laboratory operations and equipment – beneficial
Emerging technologies that dictate direction toward system and product enhancements
