As a Laboratory Scientist within our Clinical Pathology Services team, you will play an integral role in analysing samples collected during both our pre-clinical and clinical trials. Utilising a range of methods you will therefore ensure that our client’s healthcare innovations continue their progression through the drug development cycle to reach those who are in greatest need of the miracles of medicine.
Following a comprehensive induction process and carefully-tailored training programme, your responsibilities will include:

• Utilising a variety of market leading equipment, including: Roche Modular Analytics P, ILAB 650, Helena Spife Electrophoresis System, Luminex 100, MSD, Beckman Access, to perform sample analysis.
• Proactively identifying any potential issues which may prevent the efficient collection of client data.
• The accurate recording of all relevant data, collected during the conduct of analytical procedures.
• The observance of all company/departmental safety regulations
The key skills and educational/experience-related criteria for this position are as follows:

• A relevant life sciences/medical sciences degree or equivalent level qualification.
• Verifiable clinical pathology experience gained within a healthcare or clinical research laboratory setting, although not essential, would be considered highly advantageous.
• A proactive attitude, together with the motivation to contribute towards the optimisation of Covance’s existing techniques and procedures.
• A high level of attention to detail, conducive to the delivery of timely and accurate data.
• A flexible approach to the acquisition and utilisation of new skills, in-line with departmental development initiatives and business demands

Staff can be enrolled into the trainee grade at any level depending upon qualifications and experience. The minimum entry at this grade is a relevant science degree. Preferably Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
Experience is not essential as on the job training will be given.
Consideration will be given to candidates who have had experience in the NHS or in other contract research laboratories.
