Government unveils young person employment scheme

Government unveils young person employment scheme

Graduates looking for entry level jobs may be set to benefit from a new scheme unveiled by the government late last week (December 15th).
Building Engagement, Building Futures is the strategy the coalition believes will help improve the education and recruitment opportunities of people aged between 16 and 24.
It is hoped the scheme will assist those who stay in education or take up training to develop the skills they need to make a smooth transition into full-time work.
Five priorities in making this happen are improving attainment in schools, aiding local partners in providing services for young people, offering incentives to employers who run apprenticeships or work experience programmes, giving young people in the workplace personalised support, and establishing a Youth Contract.
The latter will be worth some £1 billion over the next three years and will be aimed at ensuring young Britons are either earning or learning.
Speaking recently, Dr Neil Bentley, deputy director-general of the Confederation of British Industry, said that by rolling out its Youth Contract scheme now, the government may ensure that a generation is not left "scarred" by the effects of long-term unemployment.
